Job Description

To assist in the Potency and Identity Testing of final products and in process samples to ensure product meets USDA regulated titration standards through tissue culture methodologies, and fluorescent antibody staining procedures for Vaccines.

Preparation of Chick Embryo fibroblasts (CEF) using sterile technique for use in all aspects of QC testing.

Includes following all departmental standard operating procedures and standard methods for performing Quality Control assays, safety, testing      documentation, and cleaning records.

Perform assays in the QC department to assist other technicians including but not limited to Salmonella, bioburden, water testing, endotoxin testing, moisture testing, diluent sterility testing   glassware and media preparation, reagent preparation, etc

Duties & Responsibilities:

Lab Tech would assist qualified personnel to perform identity testing of final and in-process samples for Marek's Disease Vaccine.
The testing will be conducted via tissue culture. Includes the ability to work with minimal supervision.
Will perform cell counts, use of fluorescent antibodies testing methodology, and the use of standard and fluorescent microscopes.
Responsible for wearing proper personnel protective equipment.  
Proper cleaning of the test areas or equipment following Quality Control guidelines and documentation of cleaning on appropriate cleaning records.
Preparation of tissue culture using Chick Embryo fibroblasts (CEF) for QC testing.


Has basic computer skills, detail orientated with the ability to maintain accurate and detailed records.
Good communication skills with the ability to write and follow written procedures precisely.
Ability to lift and carry dewar for  50 ft. as well as push / pull.
Must be able to squat, bend, and stoop, as well as twisting and turning.
Must be able to wear appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE.)
Ability to sit at microscope station for extended periods of time.  
Ability to work in a team environment.
Willingness to learn underlying concepts of the position and apply knowledge in everyday procedures.

Associate Degree in Science Related Field
laboratory experience in a biologics industry or related field or degree
